Peer review procedure

  1. Scientific articles published in the Articles section and review articles published in the Review Articles/Reviews section are subject to external peer review.
  2. Scientific articles published in special issues of the journal are also subject to external peer review.
  3. The external peer review is conducted by at least two reviewers.
  4. Authors and reviewers are anonymous to each other (double-blind review process).
  5. During the process of evaluation, reviewers pay attention to the soundness of the scholarly apparatus, the original and creative presentation of issues, the thematic coherence of the material, the clarity and consistency of the arguments and conclusions, relevance in terms of research methods, topics and cited literature.
  6. The process of review is conducted via the editorial tab.
  7. Reviewers use the Article review form in the scientific journal “Terrorism- studies, analyses, prevention”.
  8. Author obtains the access to the anonymised review form. The author is obliged to refer to each reviewer’s comments.
  9. Review can consist of several stages. Reviewer may indicate the need for a re-review after the author has addressed the suggested changes. The re-review is conducted by the same reviewer.
  10. Reviews unequivocally state whether an article should be accepted for publication or not.
  11. If the Publishing House of the Internal Security Agency receives two conflicting reviews, it forwards the manuscript to another reviewer (or reviewers). Based on all the reviews, the Publishing House of the Internal Security Agency decides whether to accept the material for publication or to reject it.
  12. In case of the contrary positions of the Reviewer and the Author it is the Editor-in-Chief together with the members of the Academic Editorial Board who decide on the future of the article.
  13. The list of reviewers cooperating with the journal is published both in its printable and electronic versions.
  14. Articles published in the Awarded theses section are subject to internal review – both substantive and formal – by the journal’s editor-in-chief and other members of the editorial team.
